"Firebird" is a retelling of the classic Russian folktale by Saviour Pirotta, with very artistic and atmospheric paintings by Catherine Hyde.

This is the adventure story that inspired Igor Stravinsky to write the music for the famous "Firebird" ballet more than 100 years ago.

The lovely, luminous Firebird is stealing the king's golden apples. The king sends his two oldest sons to capture the Firebird. After they fail in their quest, the youngest brother succeeds in winning the Firebird (which he sets free) and the beautiful Princess Helen.

For children ages 5-10.

There’s an emotional quality to his writing that I loved - he gets you involved in the same way that Andrew Lang did to me all those years ago.    Gina Ruiz reviewing The McElderry Book of Grimm's Fairy Tales in BlogCriticsonline.
