A visit to the Brontes' birthplace

I took a few days off this week to recharge my batteries before starting the second instalment of my Ancient Greek Mysteries. The weather was muggy but warm and dry so I took the bus into Bradford and then out again to Thornton, the birthplace of the famous Brontes.

The chapel where Bronte senior was a vicar is in ruins but the house where Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Patrick Branwell were born is a restaurant. It was closed while I was there so I had to make do with walking up and down the front door steps.

I saw a spooky house next door that had old gravestones for gate posts. It gave me an idea for a ghost story but more about that in another post.
