Tick Ticking Away - How I wrote Tick Tock Cafe.

I got very excited when Pauline Thresh and Kirsty Fenn from Leeds School Libraries Services emailed me in the summer. Last year we'd launched an online story for KS2. Would I be interested in doing the same this year with a story for KS1, perhaps something with a seaside theme?

Having moved to Scarborough I jumped at the chance to show off my new home town. I started scribbling notes right away. I would include all my favourite spots and things to do in the town. Within a day or two I had suggested an idea. How about a detective story?

I spend a lot of time writing on the seafront, either at the Spa or just down the road at The Clock Cafe when it's sunny. The views from both venues are very inspiring. The cafe at the Spa does an awesome prawn baguette too, and the Clock Cafe serves fresh scampi and chips. The scampi come from nearby Whitby, I believe.
