ZERO TO HERO
A practical workshop to write a story in the style of
FIREBIRD
Firebird is a classical folk tale that uses many popular tropes found in world-literature. For me, the most interesting is the journey of a anti-hero no one trusts or likes to becoming a powerful and respected member of society.
In our workshop, the children get to choose a main character, a magical helper and a quest for their own version of the myth.
We will construct a five-step plot which we can expand into a proper story, with a well-thought out beginning, middle and a satisfying ending.
We’ll also look at the keywords we want to use in the text that will give our story a feel and voice of its own, and we’ll find out how work out the ratio of narrative to direct speech.
I will need a writing board or a flipchart and pens. The kids will need something to write on.
